The fun and walkable Wrightsville Beach boasts four miles of picturesque coastline, crystal-blue waters, and white sand beaches along the Atlantic. It’s known for surfing and other recreational activities such as paddle boarding and kayaking. A paved 2.5-mile loop around the heart of Wrightsville Beach is popular with locals and tourists alike. Wrightsville Beach has temperate weather year-round and provides a great escape from the summer heat.
 
You’ll find breathtaking oceanfront properties, resort-style condominiums, and beachside properties in Wrightsville Beach. Harbor Island is primarily residential and has the most spectacular views. Here, luxury homes are surrounded by ancient oak trees and have private docks. Wrightsville Beach is also home to some of the oldest yacht clubs in the country, including The Carolina Yacht Club, which was founded in 1853.

For a relaxed dining experience sure to please your taste buds, locally-owned Sundays Café is highly rated for its quality coffee and delicious breakfasts. Popular with locals and visitors, Bluewater Waterfront Grill specializes in classic steak and seafood dishes. In the summer, they host live music on their patio. Dockside Restaurant is a casual eatery and bar on the water’s edge. Tower 7 Baja Mexican Grill serves delicious fish tacos and flavored margaritas. 
 
For drinks, Poe’s Tavern is a relaxed watering hole with décor dedicated to Edgar Allan Poe, and Waterman’s Brewery has craft beers, live music, and brunch on the weekends. The Palm Room has handcrafted cocktails and live bands for a late night out. This bar has been a local mainstay since 1955. 
 
Some specialty shops and unique boutiques are in the pedestrian-friendly area of Wrightsville Beach. Hallelu Clothing Co. has fashionable women’s clothing, accessories, and shoes. Redix has department store brands, home décor, and beach necessities. On Mondays, the Wrightsville Beach Farmers’ Market has local growers and unique craft vendors.
 

Things to Do

Wrightsville Beach is great for all watersports and outdoor activities, including swimming, jet skiing, kayaking, scuba diving, and surfing. Yacht clubs like to gather in the area, often organizing cruises along the Intracoastal Waterway with member boat owners. The adjacent Wrightsville Beach Park is home to picnic areas, basketball and tennis courts, and fitness equipment. They also host free outdoor concerts in the summer.
 
The first concrete fishing pier in North Carolina, Johnnie Mercers Fishing Pier, extends more than 1,200 feet into the Atlantic Ocean. It features a full-service gift and tackle shop, fantastic fishing, and a seasonal grill.
 
If you want to pamper yourself, Alchemy Wellness Spa has massage services, skincare treatments, and an infrared sauna.
 
Set in the historic 1948 Palmgren-O'Quinn cottage, the Fred and Alice Stanback Coastal Education Center hosts various educational programs, community events, and environmental projects.
 
Not to be missed is the Annual Taste of Wrightsville Beach, which celebrates island fare with tasting booths of local cuisine, beer, and wine. The North Carolina Holiday Flotilla, the coastal Carolina version of a parade, kicks off the Christmas season with brightly lit boats cruising at night.
