Charming and fun seaside towns with laid-back beaches and spacious oceanfront homes
Carolina Beach lies on the northern part of Pleasure Island and is just south of Wilmington. It’s a beautiful, walkable coastal town with plenty of recreational activities for everyone, including surfing and kayaking. Or you can stay on dry land and hike at
Carolina Beach State Park, a 761-acre park with a network of trails, a marina, an exhibition hall, and educational programs. The Carolina Beach Boardwalk is one of the last boardwalks on the East Coast and is lined with shops, restaurants, and carnival rides.
To the south, Kure Beach is a charming and historic beach town.
The Kure Beach Fishing Pier is the oldest pier on the Atlantic Coast. Built-in 1923, it has been destroyed by hurricanes and rebuilt several times. It’s 711 feet long and provides beautiful views of the coast. It’s also one of the best spots for fishing on the island. Most homes here are within walking distance of shops and restaurants.
